Manchester United has completed the transfer of Porto forward Telles for £45 million (around $62 million), bringing to an end a summer that saw the club spend heavily on players.
The deal, which was announced by both clubs earlier this week, marks a significant investment from United and comes after a season in which the team struggled under the management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Telles, who joined Porto from Santos at the age of just 17, is known for his technical ability and scoring prowess. He scored 29 goals in all competitions last season, helping the Portuguese side to win the Primeira Liga title and reach the Europa League final.
United have been looking to strengthen their attacking options this summer, with the arrival of Bruno Fernandes and Raphael Varane already securing them two key signings. The addition of Telles will give manager Erik ten Hag another option up front, while also providing competition for places in midfield.
The move is likely to be seen as a coup for Porto, who have enjoyed success under manager Sergio Conceicao in recent seasons. However, the loss of such a talented player could be a blow to the team's chances of competing at the top level next term.
Overall, the transfer looks like being a strong investment for Manchester United, with Telles expected to make an immediate impact on the Premier League stage.
